Mr. Janath Prasanka has served as Chief Operating Officer (Designated) of Bank of Ceylon (UK) Ltd since May 2026, with responsibilities spanning operational management, governance, operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and business performance. He is a senior banking executive at Bank of Ceylon (BOC), Sri Lanka, with more than 20 years of experience across banking operations, international banking, treasury, foreign exchange, business transformation, risk and control, customer service, and strategic leadership. His career includes extensive experience in regulated banking environments across Sri Lanka, India, and the UK, where he has held senior management roles covering large-scale branch operations, international banking, treasury activities, and transformation initiatives.

His breadth of international banking experience and proven leadership across operations, governance, risk, and transformation position him well to support Bank of Ceylon (UK) Ltd’s continued operational effectiveness and strategic development.

Mr. Janath Prasanka is a seasoned banking professional with over two decades of extensive experience across the banking and financial services industry, including more than 20 years in managerial and senior leadership positions. Throughout his career, he has gained broad exposure to both domestic and international banking environments, demonstrating strong expertise in strategic leadership, financial management, business transformation, and banking operations.

Prior to joining Bank of Ceylon (BOC), Mr. Prasanka commenced his professional career as a Management Trainee at State Mortgage & Investment Bank in 2006. He subsequently gained valuable corporate exposure as a Graduate Intern at Sri Lankan Airlines, further strengthening his foundation in financial and business management.

His extensive professional portfolio encompasses international banking, trade finance, risk management, strategic planning, operational resilience, advisory services, capital markets, management accounting, digital banking, treasury and foreign exchange, financial analysis, banking operations, and remittance services. His multifaceted experience has equipped him with a holistic understanding of the banking value chain, enabling him to effectively integrate strategic priorities with financial performance, risk governance, operational excellence, and sustainable business growth.

Mr. Prasanka holds a Master of Financial Economics from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ruhuna. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (AIB), holds membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT), and has completed a Diploma in Computer Software Engineering at London Tech International. With a strong blend of strategic acumen, financial expertise, technological awareness, and extensive leadership experience, Mr. Prasanka brings a comprehensive and forward-looking perspective to the banking and financial services sector.
